Chiropractic Myths

Published by Dr. Alden Clendenin

There are plenty of myths surrounding chiropractic medicine, most of which are false. Many people see chiropractors as glorified massage therapists who give a temporary fix for back problems. However, chiropractic medicine offers much more than that. The entire body can benefit from a visit to a chiropractor, and the “temporary” fixes are often permanent. If you are still wary about visiting a chiropractor, here are some common myths debunked.

Myth 1: Chiropractors are not the same as doctors.

Yes, the practices are holistic and less intrusive than what Americans are used to. However, licensed chiropractors still must go to medical school and actually must go through more classroom hours than licensed doctors.

Myth 2: It’s too expensive.

Compared to a regular doctor visit, it is less expensive ($65.00 on average per visit). You can sometimes get good deals on your first chiropractic consultation as well.

Myth 3: Chiropractors only help with back pain.

As mentioned before, this is just the tip of the iceberg as to what chiropractors can do for you. Ailments such as sleep disorders, arthritis, bursitis, and much more can all be treated with chiropractic care.

Myth 4: Adjustments hurt.

While some people may feel a bit of discomfort, most patients do not find adjustments painful at all. On top of this, the relief felt after being in pain greatly outweighs any initial suffering.

Myth 5: I cannot benefit from chiropractic care.

Here at Chicago Sports Injury Centers, we treat all types of people of all ages. Chiropractic care can work for you whether you are a professional athlete or an elderly woman. We work with everyone to make sure that their regimen is fitted to their needs.

Hopefully the truth about these myths can ease any concern you have about seeing a chiropractor. Overall, our goal is to make sure that your mind and body are functioning at one hundred percent through a personally tailored holistic treatment.
