How To Avoid Sports-Related Injuries

Summer is when everyone wants to get back outside, play beach volleyball, run along the lakeshore, and more. However, this sometimes means using muscles that you haven’t used in a while. The good thing is that there are things you can do to minimize your risk for injury.

Some basic tips include eating a well-balanced diet, drinking plenty of water, and wearing shoes that fit well and absorb shock. On the exercise front, be sure to include a warm-up and cool down, flexibility exercises, and cardio/strength training in order to have a full body workout. In doing this, understand your body’s limits – do not attempt to do a week’s worth of activity within a day. Following these guidelines will help you avoid sports-related injuries this summer!
